Hi, I’m Kelly

With over 20 years of experience in Montessori education, including co-founding a successful Montessori school, I've guided hundreds of children on their learning journeys. My nephew's dyslexia diagnosis inspired me to pursue Orton-Gillingham training, allowing me to blend these powerful approaches for maximum impact.

When I'm not tutoring, you'll find me tending to our hobby farm, complete with playful goats, buzzing bees, and a budding flower garden. This passion for nurturing growth extends to every aspect of my life.

FAQs

For families living in and around the Boulder area, I offer in-person tutoring for children aged 3-12. As an experienced teacher and tutor, I love forming authentic connections and guiding children along their learning journey. I work to establish rapport right from the start and weave in games to support your child's motivation and engagement. Using systematic structured literacy lessons, I support each child at their own pace to become a confident reader, speller, and writer.
I have been a Montessori teacher since 2005. My sister and I have owned and operated a beautiful Montessori school for twenty years. I am a Licensed AMS Primary (3-6) Montessori teacher. I am also Orton-Gillingham Associate level trained and have completed this training twice! I'm always eager to learn more.

Sessions are 45 minutes. A typical session includes components of the following:
- Phonemic awareness and handwriting
- Explicit instruction on various patterns embedded in the English language, individualized for your child's specific needs
- Lots of interleaved review of previously taught concepts and skills
- Activities to practice reading and writing at the word, sentence, and passage level
Following each session, you will receive an email detailing our work together. This is a partnership, and I am here to help answer questions throughout our time together, by phone, text, or even a quick coffee date meet-up.
I have a space set up for tutoring here at the farm. For a small travel fee, I can come to you (provided you have a space set up that fosters focus).
In my experience as a classroom teacher and tutor, intervention may be required in varying capacities as your child's academic needs change throughout the years. Every child is different, and needs fluctuate.
